ProPlas Technologies Receives ISO 13485:2003 Certification

ProPlas Technologies announced their recent certification to ISO 13485:2003 at its Gardena, CA facility. The company strategically planned and received simultaneous certification to ISO 9001:2008 with their registrar, UL-DQS, from their previous ISO 9001:2000 certification.
ISO 13485 is a standard specific to medical device quality systems that supplements the ISO 9001 standard. Some of the additional requirements relate to design controls, process controls (including environmental controls), special processes, traceability, record retention, customer satisfaction, and regulatory actions, which are critical for the medical device industry.
The decision to include the ISO medical device standard fit into the strategy of the company's management team. "We have been supporting the medical industry for quite some time and having ISO 13485 opens more opportunities for us. We've had significant involvement in the medical lighting market segment and this allows us to encompass the broader medical device market for both our precision molding and electro-mechanical skill sets", said Scott Taylor, President of ProPlas Technologies.

We are excited to announce that the management team led by Scott Taylor has purchased the California facility of Spectrum Plastics Group effective August 28, 2009. The new ownership will be exclusively members of our day-to-day management team onsite at the Gardena plant. All key personnel will remain in place. The new group will continue uninterrupted operation in the existing facility in Gardena, CA and will continue to fulfill current and future obligations with all existing customers. The new company will operate under the name ProPlas Technologies.
